Biography

Dana Enders is an avid, plein air pastel artist. She is an award winning artist who enjoys competing in juried shows and plein air events up and down the east coast. Dana relocated from Atlanta to Fort Myers in 2021 to focus on being a plein air painter of the beautiful Gulf Coast, particularly Sanibel and Captiva Island.

 

Dana is an active member of the Southwest Florida Pastel Society and the Sanibel Captiva Art League. She has served on the board of the Fort Myers Beach Art Association and currently leads and organizes the FMBAA plein air program. Dana enjoys teaching her painting process in workshops both here in Florida, as well as in Georgia.  Most recently, Dana has been invited to participate in several invitational events here in Florida, both in 2024 and looking ahead in 2025.

 

Since moving to Florida, Dana has transitioned from acrylics to soft pastels and has been loving this new medium!

Background

Originally from Maryland, Dana enjoyed painting in high school. She received her BFA degree with a focus in graphic design from Virginia Commonwealth University. In 1996, Dana moved to Atlanta and started her career as a graphic designer. It was not until 2016 that she started painting. Her artist mentor was her dad, Duane Sabiston, a retired art teacher, and plein air artist. Dana fell in love with outdoor painting and quickly realized that she no longer wanted to be sitting at a computer designing. Later that year, Dana joined her first art organization and started participating in art shows and outdoor art festivals.
